March of Dimes
Leigh Ann Young spoke about the March of Dimes involvements, duties and advocacies at the 2006 March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Auction held at the Knoxville Convention Center Sunday night.
Young is one of co-chairs in charge of the night’s events. She spoke about the benefits of the March of Dimes and how everyone attending the event would be helping out the association.
“The March of Dimes is one of the mostly highly respected nonprofits in the nation,” Young said.
This organization is helping to find better health care costs; they support the research and technology for premature babies.
The Chef’s Auction is a gathering of twenty-seven of Knoxville’s’ finest chef’s. These chefs come from prominent restaurants such as Nama, Copper Cellar, Blackberry Farm and more.
Everyone who attended this event were family members of victims of premature birth, employees to the March of Dimes or advocates to the organization.
“I am pleased to have all of you hear and hope that you remember you all are supporting a multimillion-dollar nationwide fight against premature births,” said Young.
The Chef’s Auction consisted of silent and live auctions. The items sold were sponsored by UT Medical Center, Regions Bank, First Tennessee and many others. All of the proceeds from the auction went to the March of Dimes.
