Magic Carpet Ride

A business and professional communications class took a magic carpet ride in the hallway of the Communications & Information building today.

This class was flying high above the mountains of east Tennessee on three separate magic carpets. Each carpet was crowded with class members.

This magic carpet ride was not a joy ride though. There was a problem. The magic carpets were upside down! The class members had to figure out a way to get all three magic carpets right side up without falling off the carpet.

The professor of this communications class was using this activity as a team-building exercise. After a short period of time the students realized they could move their carpets together and all step onto one; flipping the others over until each carpet was correct.

The professor said that this was a great team-building activity to help the students realize how we self impose rules on each other and to learn to work together, even if it is in an uncomfortable enviroment. Many people are uncomfortable being physical close to other people, especially if they don't know them very well. This exercise was great in working to overcome that.
